9.4. LEVEL 3 INSTALLATION
9.4.1. GENERAL
The provisions described in 9.4.1. to 9.4.4. are supplementary and additional
to both Level 1 and Level 2 systems described in Sections 9.2. and 9.3.
9.4.2. LOW LOCATION LIGHTING LINES
The width of the low location lighting lines described in 9.2.2.
to 9.2.6. should be increased by no less than
50% and the use of Class I material is recommended. Both sides of internal
corridors and along the entire length of the escape path should
be marked with low location lighting lines.
9.4.3. ADDITIONAL LOW LOCATION LIGHTING
LINES IN CORRIDORS AND ON EMERGENCY STAIRS
A further low location lighting line should be added on at least
one wall along internal corridors and down the side of emergency stairs.
The line should have a minimum width of 100mm of Class II material
arid be installed at waist level, between 800mm and 1.1m from the floor
to the bottom of the line. This line should supplement the lines
provided for in Section 9.4.2. which is then preferably located at the
floor or skirting board level.
9.4.4. ADDITIONAL LOW LOCATION DIRECTIONAL
SIGNING
Emergency and directional signing should be incorporated
in the wall low location lighting lines. They should be no smaller
than 80% of the width of the continuous lines. They should be located
to correspond to wall mounted emergency directional signs and in
no case should be spaced greater than 5m apart.
