10. CERTIFICATE AND LOG BOOK

10.1. COMPLETION CERTIFICATE
On completion of the work of installing a photoluminescent wayfinding guidance system, or any part thereof, or of a major alteration to an existing installation, a completion certificate should be supplied to the owner/occupier of the premises. A copy of this certificate may be required by the enforcing authorities and local fire protection officers.

10.2. PERIODIC INSPECTION
The photoluminescent wayfinding guidance system should be inspected annually according to the schedule as recommended in 11.2.

10.3. LOG BOOK
A log book should be kept on the premises in the care of a responsible person appointed by the occupier/owner of the premises.

The log book should be readily available for examination by any duly authorised person.

The log book should be used to record the following information:-

a) Date of completion certificate including any certificate relating to alterations and modifications.
b) Date of periodic inspections and inspection certificate.
c) Dates and brief details of any defects noted and remedial action taken.
d) Date and brief details of alterations made to the installation.
e) Dates and details of any alterations to the illuminating lighting system and any illuminance testing made.

Note: The log book may also include pages relating to other safety and fire prevention measures e.g. fire extinguisher installation and service records, some detector installation and service records and all information relating to risk areas and safety sign provisions. Details of replacements to signs and excessively soiled or defaced markers may also be noted in the log book.
