11. SERVICE AND INSPECTION

11.1. SUPERVISION
Regular inspection and routine maintenance of the emergency wayfinding guidance system should be carried out. The owner/occupier of the premises should appoint a competent person to supervise the system, with sufficient authority to maintain the system.

11.2. ROUTINE SERVICE AND INSPECTION

11.2.7. GENERAL
Routine inspection may be carried out at any time. Inspections should be carried out at the following intervals as recommended in 11.2.2. to 11.2.3.

a) Weekly.
b) Yearly.

11.2.2. WEEKLY INSPECTION
Designated fire wardens normally appointed in different sections of premises should inspect their area every week to ascertain that:-

a) All permanent directional, emergency equipment, fire fighting equipment, hazard warning and mandatory instruction signs are in place.
b) All temporary hazard signs are located.
c) No serious defacing damage or heavy soiling of signs, low location lighting lines and directional markers has taken place.
d) No serious loss or failure of normal lighting has taken place.
e) Any missing signs or failure of normal lighting has been recorded in the log book and action taken has been noted.

11.2.3. WEEKLY SERVICE
Following inspection the following service schedule should be followed:-

a) Glean reported soiled signs, lines and markers.
b) Replace immediately missing, heavily soiled or defaced signs or markers.
